yet its been over 2 weeks and I have tried another 2 times and still no change. All the other forums I have seen where people have a missing file doesn't seem to have it affecting their game :/ I have this problem too I do have mods installed but I don't think they are the problem but my additional issue is that steam won't let the game run the launcher opens, I hit play, and nothing happens the launcher just closes I've looked around the internet but it seems no one else is having the same thing happen. While we will keep tabs on the tickets during the break, we will respond to them as quickly as possible upon our return.
Skyrim will start through steam without any obvious issues, but I am worried this invalidated file may cause problems in the future.
======================================== Wonder if I should reinstall Steam. ========================================= Well, I can more easily do a complete reinstall of GC3. After installation and running the game to the opening menu, I exited and validated the files and it found 1 to download and it was GC3.bin, based on the time stamp.
This morning I carefully removed everything from My Games, Program Data, and the Steam directory for Gal Civ3 and used the Steam function to delete local files.
In fact it never does unless you ask for it or probably it's a critical game file being corrupted? I have edited some xml files to create my custom race (I don't like the limited in-game option) Steam never asked me to verify game cache. Steam does not ask me to verify: I have done this on my own (to make sure when ticketing other bugs I don't just have a corruption) and I have been surprised that it always found one file that needed to be downloaded again.
In fact it never does unless you ask for it or probably it's a critical game file being corrupted? Then if I verify again before playing it says no problem.
