Management is very cooperative, friendly, and helpful! I learned so much about intellectually and developmentally disabilities. the most enjoyable part they are able to do for themselves keeps you laughing and on your toes.
Taking them on recreation outing to the movies,out to eat,cookouts.boswell is a great place alot of fun women staff professional staff individuals management is awesome everyone helps when needed.
The hardest part of my job is not knowing whether the clients are going to be good or act out; you never know.

I work for The Department of Mental Health as a Program Manager A typical day is going to the office checking my email for any emails I may have received the previous day or overnight. I cook for them daily and make sure they take their appropriate medicines at the appropriate times.
Normally on Monday's I have to approved the hours employees work the previous day through a system call Kronos. I make sure the safety and security of each of the clients. My other co-workers call on me to deal with problems with the clients; whether arguing, fighting, or just deliberately won't do what they are told.
If we have outside time then we would either go shoot basketball or swimming and if it is cold or raining we go to the swac, which is like a play area for them on the inside.
After that, we go back to our house and I would give them a snack and something to drink. The best and most enjoyable part of the job is building relationships.
Enjoyed my time work at Boswell, but they can never keep employees and often the employees that remain are forced to work exhausting hours.
Either that or the employees that are there don't pick up their slack and leave others do their work. Everyday was a new challenge with different opportunities.
I learned not to take anything for granted because some have it worst then I do.
They was adults and had mild to severe mental disorder. I enjoyed working at this job because it help me to understand different mentally disorder that I wasn't really had know knowledge of.
Working with the clients on a daily base I learned a lot.
I have gained a personal relationship with the clients and it has also made me gain patience and other characteristics.
